About Paddle to the Wreck

Paddle to the Wreck began about 20 years ago with fewer than 20 people swimming roughly 1/4 mile to the S.S. Breconshire. Today, it has grown into a beloved Vero Beach tradition with hundreds of people gathering with friends and family for a beautiful morning on the ocean.

The wreck is about 1/4 mile offshore, and on clear mornings you can often see the bottom most of the way out. Swimmers, paddlers, kayakers, paddle boarders, snorkelers, and floats are all part of the fun.

Important Reminder

Please do not stand on the wreck. The S.S. Breconshire has been underwater for more than 130 years, and we want to help protect this historic site for future generations.

What to Bring

Bring sunscreen, water, beach gear, and anything else you need for a morning on the ocean. Masks and snorkels are welcome.

This is a community beach gathering, and everyone is responsible for their own safety on the water.
