We’ve been looking for the safest and easiest way to get in and out of a kayak. Launching a kayak from a floating dock can be tricky, and after a long paddle it can be tough getting out.  It hasn’t been easy, but we’ve found the answer!

EZ Dock Kayak Launch Section

Kayaks on the Indian River Lagoon

It actually came across  my Facebook feed, a guy in a kayak pulling himself out of a slip that fit the kayak perfectly. Totally on his own, into the water, then back into the slip! Looked too easy, too good to be true for sure.

So, I reached out to a guy I know that carries that dock line. Not only did they have one, he confirmed how easy it was to use. Designed to launch a kayak without getting wet, without walking into knee deep unknown water. Super easy! I ordered it, time to get our kayak game on point.

Using the kayak launch with a tandem kayak

Tandem Kayak on Kayak Launch

Had the new kayak launch dropped off at the boat ramp near our floating dock. So thankful for Florida Boat Rentals for towing it over for. Was prepared to tow it with a kayak, but wasn’t looking forward to it. Thank you so much Alex!

Kayak In The Indian River Lagoon

Using the Kayak launch at Paddles By The Sea

Once we had the new kayak section in place we had to give it a test. So much easier than I could have hoped for. Step onto the kayak while it’s in its own little slip, settle into the seat, sort out your gear. Place your paddle in the cutouts on either side, and pull until you’re floating away. It’s so simple its genius. Now we have the safest and easiest way to launch a kayak anywhere. Not sure how we operated without it before.
